Westchester may lead the Hudson Valley in lists ranking excellent schools and household income, but it also tests high on a less attractive one: sexually transmitted diseases per capita.

A new data map produced by RentApplication.com incorporated Center for Disease Control statistics for 2013. The map includes statistics on the number of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis cases in major metropolitan areas throughout the United States, including the Hudson Valley.

Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester had data sets included in the map. Sullivan County did not.

Since you're burning to know the details, here's how each county in our area rated in total:

Dutchess: 945 total STDs reported
Orange: 1,326 total STDs reported
Putnam: 122 total STDs reported
Rockland: 843 total STDs reported
Ulster: 506 total STDs reported
Westchester: 3,665 total STDs reported

And, for those who haven't raced out to get their penicillin yet, here's how each county ranked in the number of STDs per 100,000 people:

Dutchess: 317.84
Orange: 354.06
Putnam: 122.48
Rockland: 265.30
Ulster: 278.34
Westchester: 381.11

Not to worry, though, Westchester: Connecticut, Manhattan and North Jersey have much more chlamydia than you.
