Maybe this should be filed under, "Hidden Hudson Valley Treasures?' There is a two-acre wildflower preserve in Westchester that not too many people know about.

The Teatown Lake Reservation & Nature Preserve is located in Ossining. But what is located on the property is a true gem. The two acres that makes up Wildflower Island is refuge for over 230 native and endangered wildflowers. Access to the island is through wrought iron gates and by guided tour only. The tours run seasonally from April 16 through September 18, 2016. The tours will start at 10AM and 1PM on Saturdays and 1PM on Sundays. Pre-registration is required for all of the tours, 914-762-2912, ext 110.

The cost of the tour is $4 for Teatown members and $7 for non-members. Please be aware the children under the age of 12 are not allowed on the island. Private tours can be arranged for large groups, but must be done in advance.
