The Hudson Valley may be waking up to snow Friday morning. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of snow Thursday night after 10PM when temperatures are expected to drop down to a chilly 28 degrees. The snow could continue into Friday morning before 9AM.

Hudson Valley Weather concurs that snow showers are possible but only scattered areas such as parts of the Catskills are likely to see some wintry precipitation.

So is this just the beginning of a painful winter? Or will we (hopefully) be waiting a bit longer for the region's first snowfall? The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicted a warmer but wetter winter for the Hudson Valley, and Hudson Valley Weather's winter outlook calls for 25 to 50 percent more snow than average.
