Almost the entire country has been stuck in the deep freeze for about a week and for the past few days we've been watching a system as it moves up the coast towards our area. It's almost here and the National Weather Service has been keeping a close eye on it. Here's what we have at this point.

If you're in Sullivan County, you are under two weather statements from the National Weather Service, a Wind Chill Watch from 10 pm Thursday, January 4 through 6 pm this Saturday, January 6. According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could range anywhere from 15 to 25 below zero Thursday into Friday and 25-35 below Friday into Saturday. You are also under a Winter Weather Advisory from 1 am through 7 pm on Thursday, January 4. Areas could see 2 to 4 inches of snow with blowing and drifting snow causing reduced visibilities and slippery road conditions.

For Ulster and Dutchess Counties, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 1 am on Thursday, January 4 until 4 am on Friday, January 5. Snow and blowing snow are expected, which could make the morning commute a messy one. 2 to 5 inches of snow are expected with periods of snow falling at the rate of half an inch an hour.

Please take it slow and be careful not only on the snowy roads but in these brutally cold conditions as well.
