I have 3 movies I need to watch during the holiday season. Home Alone, Scrooged, and Christmas Vacation. All 3 movies have a few songs in them that I end up, almost automatically, thinking of the movies if I hear them during the year.

For Christmas Vacation, it's all about Mele Kalikimaka. The song was written in 1949, and made uber famous with the Bing Crosby version (from the movie).

Considering how happy and cheery a holiday Christmas is, it makes an almost sick sense that a ska band would cover it.

There IS a weird story behind this song, however. It has never been released digitally, and it disappeared from the public for awhile. "Viva La Internet" was a 31 track album that they sold at their merch tables only. It was full of awesome and weird. The Love Boat theme song, a cover of The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" and various other lunacies. They sell it on their website now, and you should buy it!
