If you missed the WRRV Spirit Society Meeting on Dec. 3, then I am sorry to be the one to tell you that you missed an exceptional one.

The meeting took place at Tuthilltown Spirits & Distillery in Gardiner. When we entered the special room that the distillery had set aside for us, it was perfectly decorated for the holidays. Lyon, one of the members of the tasting room staff was there to share with us the entire line of products that are being produced there at the distillery, including several products that are not even available for purchase yet.

After we sampled the spirits, Ralph Erenzo, co-owner and founder of the distillery, joined us to share with us his story of how he turned what he originally wanted to be a haven for rock and mountain climbers into the first distillery in New York since the repeal of prohibition.

Then we got to check out the process of how spirits are made, including getting a look at multiple stills that are in use on the property, the bottling room and the barrel room.

No trip to Tuthilltown would be complete without a visit to their on-site restaurant Tuthill House at The Mill, where we partook in our complimentary cocktail featuring the Half Moon Gin.

Cheers and Happy Holidays. Look for details about the January meeting of the WRRV Spirit Society soon.
