Clemson Bros. Brewery created a buzz on Hunter Mountain at the 22nd TAP New York Craft Beer & Food Festival. The Middletown-based brewery introduced its hometown homage M-town Sunset at the festival. The hazy, citrusy sour ale brewed with blood orange and strawberry took home a silver medal at the festival.

Garnering recognition at TAP — one of the largest craft brewery events in the state — is an achievement for any beer maker. Consider that the staff at Clemson first brewed M-town Sunset for its TAP New York appearance and the feat becomes astonishing.

For Clemson Head Brewer Paul Pacheco, the recognition at TAP New York is the equivalent of planting a flag in the Empire State’s burgeoning beer scene.

“Getting such positive feedback from so many TAP New York patrons and judges is one of the best things a brewery can hope for in the Hudson Valley and New York,” Pacheco said.

The accolades at TAP isn’t the only exciting thing at Clemson Bros. Brewery this spring. The Orange County brewer expanded into Ulster County with the acquisition of the Gilded Otter in New Paltz (now Clemson Bros. Brewery at the Gilded Otter) and plans for their Warwick brewery well underway.

The Clemson Bros. Brewery at the Gilded Otter unveiled new food and beer menus. The gastropub’s Hoppy Hour (yeah, we see what you did there, Clemson) runs Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and offers $6 draft beers, wine and well drinks as well as an $8 appetizer menu including wings, cheese curds, waffle nachos, onion rings and truffle fries.

With all the new developments happening outside their Middletown location, the Clemson crew are keeping the excitement level high at 22 Cottage St. The brewery’s beer garden is now open and their $10 lunch specials are drawing rave reviews.
