Don’t Miss the Ultimate Pumpkin Smash!
Don’t Trash It, Smash It!
On Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Sullivan County Soil & Water Conservation District and Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County invite the community to their inaugural Pumpkin Smash and 4-H Open House. This fun-filled event aims to keep pumpkins out of landfills—because what’s more satisfying than smashing your pumpkin instead?
A Day of Fun and Festivities
Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including pumpkin smashing, games, crafts, and face painting. Light refreshments will be available to keep energy levels high as guests unleash their inner pumpkin-smashers. Additionally, the 4-H Open House will showcase how local youth are making an impact in agriculture and beyond.
Important Details to Remember
Participants are reminded to leave their tools at home, as all necessary implements will be provided. Pumpkins should be free of candles and decorations before arriving. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for Saturday, November 9.
Drop-offs for compostable pumpkins will begin at 9:00 AM for those who prefer composting over smashing. The organizers will accept drop-off only compostable pumpkins through the end of November; individuals should call 845-292-6552 to arrange a drop-off time.
Join the Fun!
This event is open to all Sullivan County residents, and the organizers are eager to see everyone there. For more information, visit sullivanswcd.org or call 845-292-6552 with any questions. It promises to be a day of eco-friendly fun, community spirit, and glorious pumpkin carnage!
