Learn about the history of the Hudson River State Hospital from Joseph Galante, one of the authors of the Images of America book, Hudson River State Hospital.
Mr. Galante will discuss:
-The origins of public mental heath care in NYS prior to the state establishing its first asylum in the mid-19th century.
-Social and economic influences related to the establishment of Hudson River.
-The course of growth and decline of the hospital
-Treatments applied there, community relation, staff & patient life, and general operations over the decades HRSH was open.
