Three people were arrested after fentanyl-laced heroin was allegedly sold near a Hudson Valley school.

On Thursday, around 4:45 a.m., members of URGENT, the Ulster County Emergency Response Team (UCERT), detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office and members of the Kingston Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant on at a home on West O’Reilly Street, immediately adjacent to Kingston High School, following an investigation into heroin sales from the apartment.

The search yielded fentanyl-laced heroin, digital scales, drug packaging material and $1,500 in cash, police say.

The occupant of the home, 33-year-old Antowne Girard of Kingston was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance near school grounds, felonies.

Later in the day, 26-year-old Rashard Brodhead of Kingston and 23-year-old Hannah M. Blomgren of Rhinebeck were both arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance. Brodhead was also charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance near school grounds.

All were remanded to the Ulster County Jail. The investigation remains open and additional arrests are expected, police say.
