Driver Caught Going 100 MPH in New York Work Zone
A vehicle traveling on the New York State Thruway was clocked going 100 MPH in a work zone.
If you drive on the New York State Thruway you are well aware that some drivers can often be seen driving aggressively, especially when it comes to the speed limit. The majority of the thruway has a posted speed limit of 65 mph and some drivers completely ignore it and drive way faster. Honestly, I've been known to heavy a lead foot at times and yes, there have been a "few" times I caught myself driving well over the limit but never would I drive like any of these drivers.
3 Drivers Caught Going Over 90 MPH in a Work Zone
According to the NYS Thruway Authority (NYSTA) Facebook page three vehicles were caught going over 90 mph in Thruway work zones during the week of August 18th - August 24th, with one vehicle clocking in at 94 mph, another at 99 mph, and another at a staggering 100 mph! NYSTA didn't say if any of the vehicles were issued tickets but did share the information to remind drivers, "SLOW DOWN - DON'T RISK LIVES. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Roadside workers are real people with families. Help them go home safe and SLOW DOWN & BE ALERT."
Work Zone Safety Awareness
Work zone safety has always been something that drivers need to be aware of and to increase awareness the NYSTA launched the Work Zone Safety Awareness Program. The program aims to ensure the safety of both motorists and highway construction and maintenance workers in work zones. The hope is that awareness will prevent work zone injuries and fatalities by encouraging alert driving through construction zones.
