One of the Hudson Valley's biggest Halloween celebrations is back on the calendar for Tuesday, October 31st, 2023. I had to go digging for the information but I found it.

In case you were worried that you hadn't seen any information yet about the New Paltz Halloween parade, never fear it is happening. Once again this year the parade will march down Main Street on Halloween night.

Annual Halloween Parade Returns to New Paltz

Last year was the first year they re-routed the parade to have it end at Huguenot Street. Since the Town Hall and Firehouse moved to their new location the parade has had a new route. Last year for the first time the parade headed down Main Street as always but then instead of a left it took a right and headed to the oldest neighborhood in New Paltz to wrap up with more Halloween fun.

Once again this year Trick-or-Treat on Huguenot Street will happen from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Children and families are welcome to gather and wander the street for goodies from residents of the historic homes. The event is free and open to all but please make reservations so they can plan all the treats.

A portion of the Halloween candy distributed at Trick-or-Treat on Huguenot Street has been provided by Tops of New Paltz, ShopRite of New Paltz, Hannaford of Modena, and Hannaford of Highland. (Historic Huguenot Street via Facebook)

After trick-or-treating it is up to Main Street for the parade which steps off at 6 PM from the Middle School. The end of the parade this year will once again be Huguenot Street for more goodies.

Participants will be invited to collect candy bars and apples from the New Paltz Rotary Club, and popcorn from the Town of New Paltz – Office for Community Wellness . From 6:30 - 7:30 PM, folks may enjoy live music, fun Halloween-themed photo opportunities, juggling performances, and more. Activities will conclude immediately at 7:30 PM. (Historic Huguenot Street via Facebook)

Tour Old Cemeteries in Ulster County New York

Old Cemeteries in Ulster County New York

These old cemeteries are scattered throughout Ulster County, New York. If you are familiar with the area you have most likely driven by one. My question is have you ever stopped and taken a moment to think about history? Some of the people in these old family plots lived in the Hudson Valley during the 1700s. One thing I do ask is if you do come across an old cemetery please be respectful. These grounds are someone's final resting place they should be treated that way no matter how you find them. Taking anything other than possibly a stone rubbing or a photo is unacceptable.
