Popular Poughkeepsie Venue Sold, New Owners Have Big Plans

A Poughkeepsie, NY event space has announced they have been sold to new owners, who have huge plans for the space.

Back in 2019, the 175-year-old building located at 32 Cannon Street in the City of Poughkeepsie had seen better days. The building, which had been owned by the Freemasons was largely abandoned, leaving it in severe need of renovation. That's when a group of investors led by Jim and Gina Sullivan stepped in and began the rejuvenation of the once pristine building leading to the development of a brand new event space in the heart of Poughkeepsie.

Revel 32 in Poughkeepsie, NY Sold to New Owners

Once renovations were complete the Sullivan's opened Revel 32, which opened as a distinctive event-based venue hosting a diverse range of events including upscale weddings, corporate retreats, beer and wine festivals, concerts, comedy shows, and more. Since opening, Revel 32 has been a success for the Sullivans and the city of Poughkeepsie bringing new life to the area but after only a few years operating the event space Revel 32 has announced they have sold their building to new owners and have ceased hosting events.

Poughkeepsie Record Store Buys Revel 32 Building

According to Revel 32 owner Jim Sullivan the folks at Darkside Records (currently located at 611 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY) approached his group back in September and presented a "compelling offer to purchase the building." Sullivan told us,

"After careful consideration of the potential impact on the community and the future of Revel 32's business, the partners decided to sell the property."

 

What About Events Already Booked at Revel 32?

Sullivan told us that any events that were already booked for Revel 32 and any future Revel 32 business will take place at Keepsake at the Academy located at 33 Academy St, Poughkeepsie, NY as they have worked out a deal "to ensure a seamless transition of future events to the neighboring facility."

Darkside Records Moving Back to the City of Poughkeepsie

The date of the move from Darkside's current location into the new space hasn't been made public yet but Sullivan did tell us that "Darkside Records plans to utilize the entire building, with retail on the first floor and events on floors 2 and 3. This is expected to bring more foot traffic to downtown Poughkeepsie, positively impacting the area." We have reached out to owner Justin Johnson for more information but haven't heard back, when we do we will update this article.

Sullivan ended his talk with us by saying,
