The New York State Department of Conservation shared that New York Recycles! Day occurs every year on November 15. This event is a reminder to New York State residents to recycle and if possible, buy recycled items.

During New York Recycles! Day, community organizations, local businesses and more can attend events that highlight the importance of recycling, reuse, reduction and more within New York State.

Hudson Valley residents will be able to easily recycle appliances in the Hudson Valley in May of 2024.

Climate Smart Kingston shared information on social media about an upcoming event in the Hudson Valley, The Ulster County Coolest Recycling Drive.

They explained that from May 1, 2024 until May 18, 2024, residents of not only the Ulster County, ny community but those from  surrounding counties can easily recycle items.

There will be several opportunities for residents to drop off their appliances, completely free of charge.

Climate Smart Kingston also shared that these items would be 

"properly disposed of and recycled"

Where and When Can Residents Drop Off Appliances In The Hudson Valley?

Climate Smart Kingston continued to explain on social media about drop off locations of items to be recycled in the Hudson Valley for residents during the The Ulster County Coolest Recycling Drive.

They shared that the New Paltz Recycling and Reuse Center will be the primary drop off location for 7 dates ranging from May 1, 2024 until May 18, 2024.

Residents can drop off their items during the following times of Wednesday May 1, 2024 from 12pm until 4pm, Saturday May 5, 2024 from 9am until 1pm and Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 12pm until 4pm.

On Friday, May 10, 2024, residents can also drop off their items from 9am until 1pm, Wednesday May 15, 2024 from 9am until 1pm and Friday, May 17, 2024 from 9am until 1pm.

Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 12pm until 4pm is the last date of this recycling drive.

There will also be an option at the Kingston Earth Fair to drop off items as well.

The Kingston Earth Fair will take place on May 11, 2024 from 11am until 5pm at the TR Gallo Park in Kingston, NY. The rain location for this upcoming event will take place at Hutton Brickyards also located in Kingston, NY as well.

What Items Can Be Recycled At This Upcoming Event In The Hudson Valley?


This upcoming recycling drive allows residents to drop off more than just items, but big refrigerant appliances.

This is an event that will allow residents to take part in a 

"Free drop off and recycling of refrigerant contains appliances"

They also explained that examples of refrigerant containing appliances can consist of refrigerators, water coolers, window AC units and more.

Climate Smart Kingston claimed that the chemicals of refrigerant appliances would be

"safely extracted and recycled by local company Hudson Technologies"

They also invited the community to join them to experience the process refrigerant extraction.

Climate Smart Kingston mentioned that The Ulster County Coolest Recycling Drive is organized by Sustainable Hudson Valley along with New Yorkers for Cool Refrigerant Management.

They also shared that donations and support came from Climate Smart Kingston, the New Paltz ReUse and Recycling Center, Hudson Technologies and New Yorkers for Clean Power.
