Police: Hudson Valley Couple Arrested for Illegally Possessing Firearms

Following a joint investigation a Hudson Valley couple was arrested after police say they were found to be in possession of a number of illegal guns.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old Richard N. Overbaugh III and his wife 32-year-old Elizabeth A. Overbaugh, both from the Town of Catskill following an investigation into illegally possessing firearms.

The Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Kingston Police Department Special Investigation Unit and alerted of the possible illegal activity. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was quickly assisted by the Green County D.A.’s office and Greene County Probation.

As a result of the joint investigation 2 handguns and 3 long rifles were recovered, officials say.

Richard Overbaugh was charged with 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony. He was remanded to Greene County Jail without bail.

Elizabeth Overbaugh was charged with 4th-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class A Misdemeanor. She was remanded to Greene County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,00 bond.
