Police say a man was pulled over on I-87 in the Hudson Valley with over $40,000 worth of marijuana in his car.

On Wednesday just after 8:00 p.m., State Police from Newburgh stopped a vehicle on the New York State Thruway for a traffic violation. Police say the driver, 25-year-old Jean C.Vazquez Tamerez, of Albany was allegedly in possession of over 14 pounds of marijuana.

Vazquez Tamerez was transported and processed in Newburgh and charged with 1st-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class C felony

Vazquez Tamerez was arraigned before the Town of New Windsor Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
