During the MTV Video Music Awards, Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto took the stage to pay tribute to Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington and Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell.

It’s been a wild, wild week for the DCEU. First came the report on a new Joker origin story movie executive produced by Martin Scorsese and scripted by Todd Phillips, the man who puts the “Bro” in Warner Bros. But then WB topped themselves in the WTF department just one day later with news of a Joker and Harley Quinn romance film from the directors of Crazy Stupid Love. While Jared Leto won’t be participating in Scorsese’s bizarro origin film, the actor has confirmed his return for the Harley Quinn team-up, which has officially knocked Gotham City Sirens off the WB schedule (for now).

After a series of delays and false starts (or near-misses, however you want to define it), Disney officially nixed Tron 3…but they didn’t take the Tron franchise off the table entirely. Just this week, Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski divulged some details from the third Tron film (titled Ascension) and revealed that the sequel wasn’t totally dead, but in “cryogenic freeze.” According to a new report, Disney is gearing up to return to the world of Tron, with Jared Leto eyeing a lead role in the new project — but it’s not exactly a sequel.

In news that will either delight or horrify you (there seems to be no in between when it comes to Jared Leto), the actor with this year’s most controversial method approach is turning his attention to Andy Warhol for a new biopic about the iconic pop artist / photographer / Studio 54 fixture. And if you’re not particularly thrilled about that news, perhaps this will help: Wolf of Wall Street writer Terence Winter is developing the script.

Many people were annoyed / repulsed by reports of Jared Leto’s “method acting” on the set of Suicide Squad, but it looks like Denis Villeneuve wasn’t one of them. Leto has officially joined the cast of the Sicario director’s untitled Blade Runner sequel, which should surely test the paper-thin patience of Harrison Ford. In related news, feel free to place your bets now on which of Leto’s co-stars will be charged with assault before production ends.

Jared Leto is the second name on the poster for Suicide Squad. The only actor to get billed above him is Will Smith. Leto is listed ahead of actors like Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, and Viola Davis, who, unlike the Joker, are all actual members of the Suicide Squad. Despite Leto’s billing, though, and despite the large amount of publicity surrounding his unusual version of the character (not to mention his unusual preparations to play the role, which included sending disgusting “gifts” to his colleagues), Leto has very little screentime in the final film.

The much anticipated return of 30 Seconds To Mars has fans buzzing.

Instead of just one scene of plot-stopping fan service, Suicide Squad delivers an entire first act of soul-deadening exposition. The movie spends nearly 30 story-free minutes with a Machiavellian bureaucrat while she sits in a restaurant discussing a top secret personnel file. Here is Deadshot, the world’s greatest assassin; this is Harley Quinn, the Joker’s psychotic girlfriend. Oh, and have you heard about Captain Boomerang? And on and on and on.
