We thought it a little odd that Tom Hanks was noodling over a new David Pumpkins sketch before SNL even got to October, and NBC has finally answered our questions. The viral Halloween character will return for a half-hour animated special, with Hanks and Peter Dinklage lending their voices.
I don’t want to alarm anyone, but SNL’s David S. Pumpkins and Alec Baldwin’s Trump both debuted in the same season. I know! Things kind of took a turn after November 8, but Tom Hanks’ delightfully bizarre Halloween character debuted only two weeks prior, and now gets his very own Season 42 sendoff. Meet David S. Pimpkins!
Time will tell if SNL manages to up its Season 42 ratings surge with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, but the latter two weeks of October are shaping up nicely as well. Not only is Emily Blunt confirmed for October 15, but so too will Tom Hanks and Lady Gaga make their SNL returns.
