The Hudson Valley morns the loss of one it's own this week. Westchester Resident and New York Police Department Detective Joseph Lemm was one of six killed in yesterdays suicide bombing in Afghanistan.

According to the Journal News Detective Joseph Lemm was killed Monday during an attack by a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle. The Journal states the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack which targeted a U.S. airbase in Bargram.

New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton released a statement regarding the tragic loss. Saying Lemm always put his country first, spending 15 years with the NYPD and also serving as a member of the Air National Guard. This was Lemm's third deployment.

Detective Lemm leaves behind a wife and two children.
