In what officials called “Operation Spring Maintenance,” 11 were charged for selling and possessing drugs in Orange County.

During the operation, led by Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler, undercover police officers purchased heroin, cocaine, prescription medications, and marijuana throughout the county.

“The illegal drug epidemic continues to destroy lives in Orange County, and requires a constant and serious response,” said District Attorney Hoovler said in a statement. “We intend to keep the pressure on drug sellers during the summer months, both through enforcement actions such as this, and through more intensive investigations into larger drug dealers.”

The following were arrested for allegedly selling drugs in Newburgh, Wallkill, Middletown, Woodbury, Monroe, and Warwick:

  • Dawn Auche, 24, of Newburgh for criminal sale of cocaine
  • Ursula Berry, 35, of Middletown for criminal sale of heroin
  • Louis Castro, 21, of Goshen for criminal sale of marijuana
  • Jesse George, 33, of New Windsor for criminal sale of heroin
  • Aanan Gross, 30, of Woodbury for criminal sale of Oxycodone
  • John S. Poka, 30, of Monroe for criminal sale of ecstasy
  • Cheryl Powell, 55, of Warwick for criminal sale of morphine pills
  • Eugenio Santos, 65, of Warwick, for criminal sale of hydrocodone

Officials say Santos and Powell live together in an adult housing complex in the Town of Warwick and are accused of selling illegal drugs to law enforcement on four separate occasions.

The following individuals have been charged but not arrested. The District Attorney’s Office is asking for the public’s cooperation in obtaining information concerning their locations:

  • Christian Arce, 22, of Monroe, criminal sale of cocaine
  • Jerome Delpratt, 30, of Newburgh, criminal sale of heroin
  • Marquis Powell, 27, of Harriman, criminal sale of cocaine
