Can You Order Alcohol for Delivery in New York State?

While ordering alcohol via delivery platforms is not legal in nearly half of the country, New York is one of the states that allows beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages to be delivered via apps like DoorDash (below). There are, however, a few extra rules that still need to be followed.

Alcohol delivery can be a tricky business, with permits required for companies that transport the items from the store to your home. In the states highlighted in red above, DoorDash meets the compliance criteria for delivery. There's some steps required for the person requesting the delivery as well.

Requirements for Alcohol Delivery in New York State

Just like buying alcoholic beverages at a store, customers ordering through a delivery platform are required to enter information from their government-issued identification to prove they can legally make the purchase. Delivery drivers are also tasked with verifying the ID upon delivery.
