From Los Angeles, letlive. is part of a ever increasing post-hardcore movement. I first caught them 4-5 years ago, when they released their song "Muther". The way the vocals and the guitar complimented each other, both seeming to be on the edge of completely cutting loose, was fantastic. The driving, almost chaotic, drums.

It's been a steady progression since then, and their latest release "If I'm the Devil..." just slays. At times it's delicate and poignant, and it can launch from a point of quiet reflection into brutal retribution in a matter of seconds.

"I've Loved To Learn Myself" is a perfect representation of it. There's so much going on in this song it's tough to take it all in. The guitar work, the immediate launch into hyper personal lyrics like "There's no way my mother can still love me The way my father, my father said she did", it's all so perfectly balanced and executed. There's an almost symphonic quality. The guitar distortion leads into a huge drum hit, which leads to a wave of guitar loaded with distortion. The vocals get harsher, backing vocals show up, and then it all evens out for the pre-chorus.

And the chorus. My goodness. It's a perfect counterpoint and balance to the entire song.

It's honestly something that should be experienced. Stop reading and go listen. Good headphones, volume up.
