My future husband is a inventor, animal lover and philanthropist.  When his dog Mica suffered a spinal injury, Dragan Dimitrijevic made her a wheelchair, using small wheels, plastic pvc pipes and old belts. It worked: his furry buddy was back at the dog park in no time.

And even though this homemade doggy wheelchair was made from used parts, word of it spread in Serbia. Other pet owners with similar problems started calling, and Dimitrijevic was soon taking orders. In more than three years, the computer programmer from Belgrade has made 80 wheelchairs, developing a small business with customers all over Serbia and other Balkan countries. Dragan says that he has a soft spot for dogs and although, a wheelchair is "not a cure, it does enable them to run, sniff, do all the things other dogs normally do."  He only makes each wheelchair after he has consulted with the pets veterinarians, and then he adapts it to fit that pet and the nature of its injuries. The first wheelchair took about three days to make, Dragan has it now down to a one-day process.
