A neraly-60 mile-long trail that would connect Ulster, Orange, and Sullivan Counties has taken another step closer to reality in the Hudson Valley.

Parks and Trails New York (PTNY), described as "the leading statewide not-for-profit parks and trails advocacy organization", recently shared the latest development in a project that has already been years in the making.

New Multi-County Trail Proposed in the Hudson Valley

"Imagine a fully connected, 57-mile multi-use trail stretching across Ulster, Sullivan, and Orange Counties from Kingston to Port Jervis, NY", PTNY recently shared on Facebook (below). The next step towards making the path a reality is feedback from local Hudson Valley, NY communities.

O&W Railroad Corridor Study in New York State

In partnership with the Open Space Institute (OSI), a corridor study is currently underway to understand the impact of the trail that would reconnect historic O&W Rail Trail and the D&H Canal towpath. The next two open houses are on May 6th in Mamakating, NY and on May 14th in Port Jervis, NY. More information on both events can be found here.

Rail Trail Expansion in New York State

Trail renewal (and expansion) has been actively pursued across the Hudson Valley. In recent years, the famous Rosendale trestle has not only lengthened the 22-mile Wallkill Valley Rail Trail that now runs from Gardiner, NY to Kingston, NY, but has provided countless photo opportunities as well (above).
