15th Annual Walk for Housing Habitat of Greater Newburgh

This year's Walk is especially significant for Habitat as it represents the 15 year anniversary of its advocacy for hardworking, local families in need of decent, affordable housing and in the process revitalizes neighborhoods.This family-friendly activity features live music, exciting raffles and culminates with the dedication of the 72nd Habitat home, of the Avila Family on EParmenter St., a neighborhood development which has replaced buildings boarded up since 1989.Complete with pocket parks and a pedestrian-friendly design, this neighborhood will soon include 23 energy efficient houses, and will be home to nearly 100 residents.

Individuals and walker teams are encouraged to participate in this event; registration is ongoing on the event website and also available the day of the event beginning at 1:00pm.The Walk begins at 2:00 pm.The updated event website easily allows walkers and team captains to crrreate their own fundraising page, post photos, keep track of their fundraising goals and invite friends to participate via social media. Join us as we seek to restore a sense of community with the common goal of strong neighborhoods; partner with us as we celebrate our step by step approach as you will see completed projects and appreciate the challenges that lie ahead.
