Rethink Energy - Dance for Peaceful Power

The 4th annual Bon-Odori New Paltz Dance Festival is coming up Sunday Aug 3rd at Hasbrouck Park, New Paltz, NY. This is a great community event derived from a Japanese Buddhist dance festival and expanded to a green-thinking & peaceful energy movement.

We will have a Peace Ceremony to send prayers to the victims of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Fukushima which will give us the opportunity to think about nuclear power. There will be many businesses and individuals who work on environmental issues & practice peaceful lifestyles who advocate alternative thinking through their exhibits & services.
You & your family can munch on a great selection of healthy food while enjoying Taiko drumming, Japanese & world folk dancing, martial arts demonstrations, world class music and more. Of course we will be bon-dancing around & around along with Japanese folk music and Taiko drumming until dark!

Featured artists:

Special guests - Bluegrass legends: The New Kentucky Colonels Revival featuring Roland White from Nashville, Kentaro Hiratsuka from Japan, Steve Lutke from the Hudson Valley, and Long Island based Ron Greenstein. There will also be a benefit concert for the Bon-Odori Dance Festival by the same band on Friday Aug 1st in Kingston at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
