Additional Information

On Tuesday, April 12, at 7pm, in the College Lounge of Vanderlyn Hall, Dr. Merguerian will present a fascinating look at NY’s water supply and the impact on our region. Dr. Merguerian, who has been in almost all of the NYC tunnels during his 40+ year career as a geotechnical consultant, will explain how we get our water and take us deep (over 700') under the city inside a 23'-diameter water tunnel that was excavated beneath Queens by a 300'-long tunnel boring machine. Digital images and allied video as seen through the eyes of a geologist will bring participants underground to see the inner workings of the tunnels and the machines and people that constructed them.
