Additional Information

Maiko Hata will treat us to an evening of jazz standards with the amazing, award-winning pianist Nick Hetko. Please join us for a beautiful evening with lovely music, drinks, and beautiful local art in the heart of Kingston, NY.

Maiko Hata moved to America from Japan in 2001, settling in Kingston, NY. She has been performing at local venues and events for the past several years.

Maiko's authentic and warm voice is a reflection of her life and her passion. Maiko believes music creates a special environment where listeners and performers exchange something unique and meaningful. After years of classical voice training in high school, Maiko enrolled in the Arrow Jazz Orchestra Music School where she studied jazz with prestigious instructors such as Mari Shinonome, who was a former roommate of Evelyn Blakey, daughter of jazz drummer Art Blakey. Her voice trainers include Jay Clayton, Teri Roiger, and Terry Blaine.

In 2014, Maiko opened for several jazz legends including The Cookers and Craig Handy. Currently, Maiko is a member of Billy Harper’s vocal group in NYC, an active participant of Jay Clayton's voice workshop, and is working on her debut album scheduled for release in summer 2017.
