GREENWOOD LAKE PUBLIC LIBRARY
NEW: “Lost Amusement Parks of New York City”
with Authors Barbara & Wes Gottlock
Sun., 10/19/14
1-2:30 p.m. (free ADULT program)

Learn @ Your Library lecture series at the Greenwood Lake Public Library presents “Lost Amusement Parks of New York City” with Authors Barbara and Wes Gottlock. The Library is located at 79 Waterstone Road in Greenwood Lake, New York.

Coney Island is an iconic symbol of turn-of-the-century New York City, but many other amusement parks thrilled the residents of the five boroughs and entertained millions each year, including the wooden coasters of Fort George in Manhattan, the beer gardens and circus atmosphere at North Beach in Queens, and the blasting fireworks displays at Starlight Amusement Park in the Bronx.

By the second half of the century, all these parks disappeared, culminating with the demise of Rockaways, Playland in Queens, and Freedomland in the Bronx, which was the largest amusement park in the world.

Join Authors Barbara and Wes Gottlock at this presentation, where they will celebrate these entrepreneurial wonders and discuss the reasons for their declines. Books will be available for sale at the program.

Registration is required for this free ADULT program either in person or by telephone at (845) 477-8377 Ext. 101. Seating is limited; early registration suggested.
