A Hudson Valley man is accused of setting his own local business on fire.

On Friday, City of Newburgh Police officers responded to the area of 435 Broadway, the Ahorra Ahora Market Place, for a reported arson in progress.

This incident is being investigated by the City of Newburgh Police Department and the City of Newburgh Fire Department with assistance from the Westchester County Police Department Detectives using an arson certified K-9.

As a result of the investigation, 43-year-old Jesus Cruz of Peekskill was charged with arson. Cruz is the building owner at 435 Broadway, police say.

Cruz was remanded to Orange County Jail without bail. This investigation is ongoing, anyone with further information is urged to contact the City of Newburgh Police Department at (845) 561-3131.
