An undercover drug sale operation led to a Kingston man’s arrest.

Since earlier this year, members of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) have been investigating the sale of narcotics in the Kingston area. Police say purchases of oxycodone were made from 42-year-old Joshua M. Griffin of Kingston.

Griffin was recently indicted by an Ulster County grand jury and a warrant was subsequently issued. On Wednesday, he was arrested by members of URGENT after he was spotting walking on Greenkill Avenue in Kingston.

Griffin was allegedly in possession of a small amount of marijuana at the time of his arrest. He was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony, and a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Griffin was taken to the Ulster County Jail and will be arraigned in Ulster County Court at a later time.

The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police, Village of Ellenville Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
