It is a hot button topic all over the United States and it has now popped up in the Hudson Valley.

Kai McKenna-Rhatigan was born a female and decided in high school to transition to a man.

According to his Facebook post on May 12 he was turned down for a haircut at the Classic Cuts Barber Shop in Kingston. McKenna-Rhatigan said he asked for a "shape up" and after being looked up and down he was told the shop doesn't cut women's hair.

Classic Cuts owner Yevette Quick was unable to comment. She did tell Hudson Valley Post, "All I ask is everyone stay unbiased until they know the truth."

The incident has created a rift on social media and in Ulster County as a lot of people have picked a side and are being very vocal about their feelings.
