SUNY New Paltz students, faculty and staff showed off their gingerbread house-decorating skills through the “Decorate to Donate” campaign, a benefit organized by SUNY New Paltz Dining Services by Sodexo to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Campus community members bought gingerbread houses and made them their very own, lining up their gumdrops and piping their doors, windows, and roofs, in the weeks leading up to a Dec. 3 village display of around 500 houses in the Student Union Atrium. Some of the gingerbread houses were even replicas of campus buildings.

While the decorating is all done, there are still gingerbread houses available for those who may wish to make a contribution and decorate on their own, said Campus Resource Chef Jim Pellegrini, who organized the event.  Funds raised from the sale of those houses will be added to the current donation total of over $11,000.

This was the first time the event was held on campus, and it seems like it was quite a sweet success!
