Lucas Garrett is “Reaching Through Dreams” with his Latest LP

“Performing live is the purest form of expression I can muster. It allows everything I want to say musically and has a forum in which I can say it.”

That's how Lucas Garrett looks upon performing. Amy Biancolli of the Times Union has described Garrett's music as "sneaky with unexpected turns and inventive instrumentation," while also praising his "rumbling baritone" sound. The Upstate New York artist has played professionally for over nine years. In this time, he has incorporated his idiosyncratic vocal stylings with an unusual blend of progressive rock, folk, new wave, and indie to create a unique sound that audiences enjoy time and time again. In a short amount of time, Lucas has surely gained attention, releasing Evening's Come, But it's Not Dark (2017), Love is Better (2019), and Familiar Floors (2020).

Reaching Through Dreams

Garrett's latest album Reaching Through Dreams explores some vulnerable themes. The album dives into the acceptance of love in his life, the anxiety that comes with it and the path forward. As someone in a new relationship myself, I really empathize with the "anxieties that come with it," because it's hard to accept love if you feel you've been without it for a while. It takes a lot to open up that way, and that is exactly what Lucas Garrett is sharing in this latest project.

Reaching through Dreams, which is slated to come out this summer, is an amalgamation of past albums, as well as an expansion of his current sound. Two singles from the record, “So Many Times,” released August 27^th, 2021, and “Together,” released April 1^st, 2022, serve as great examples for what listeners can expect.
