It's been 9 years, but Mets fans can finally look forward to the post season, since the Mets clinched the NL East on Saturday. It's been a long almost-decade, with a lot of frustration and at times heartache along the way.

But now, with a team that is built on homegrown players for the most part (I'm including trades in that) with Harvey, deGrom, Matz, Niese and Syndergaard all having come up through the minors. And that's just the starting pitchers!

Familia, d'Arnaud, Duda, Murphy, Flores, Wright, Conforto and Lagares were all minor leaguers with the Mets as well, and it feels kinda awesome that the players that we've watched grow up with Mets we can now watch win with the Mets.

I'm not saying that Sandy drafted all these guys, because he didn't. Omar Minaya had A LOT to do with the major league roster, but Minaya had a really awful track record when it came to developing talent and KEEPING the talent that he drafted. I have no doubt that most of these players wouldn't be with the team, and most likely would have been shipped out for over-paid, older players with Minaya was still running the show.

SO! Enjoy, Mets fans. Post season baseball is headed our way. And that's just awesome.
