Michael Stipe is sharing his first piece of new music since the "long-term hiatus" of R.E.M. in 2011.The instrumental was composed for the film "The Cold Lands" from Stipe's frequent collaborator Tom Gilroy.  Stipe tells "Salon" he definitely felt pressure working on his first post-R.E.M. music, but it helped not having to sing on the track.  And even though he admits he "can't play an instrument to save [his] life," Stipe says he tried to "stretch and challenge" himself by handling the keyboards and electronic drums this time around.
