I'm happy to admit I was one of the people that caught soccer fever during the 2014 World Cup. I actually remember when the US hosted it in the 90's and being vaguely intrigued. This time around, I was far more into it. And I'm not the only one.

The USA is slowly becoming a nation of soccer fans. It's taken a long time to catch on, but it looks like it's starting to happen. The US was completely captivated by the USMNT's run in Brazil this year, and the MLS is finally starting to gain some traction.

Which is kind of awesome, considering MLS has a new team in NYC, playing out of Yankee Stadium.

For some reason, The Red Bulls never really caught my attention, but a true NYC soccer team sounds like a helluva lot of fun.

And they just signed a really good young player. Mix Diskerud. He's a Norwegian-American player, who is already on the USMNT team.  He's been playing professionally since he was 18 in the Norwegian leagues, and I think he's going to be a very important part of the USMNT moving forward for the next few World Cups.

It's always been kinda tough to get into soccer in NYC, but we've finally got our own team and we've got some young, fun to watch players on the team. Links to the team page are here.

Check out some of Mix's highlights.
