The men and women of New York State Police Troop K were very busy last weekend as 22 impaired drivers were taken off the roads between Friday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 4.

With their work including roads in Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester Counties many of the drivers face charges of driving while intoxicated throughout various municipalities. The nearly two dozen arrests arrests were the result of traffic stops, alert officers at a local gas station, and charges stemming from single- and multi-car accidents.

Among those charged were:

Desiree A. Chiatti, 32, of Claverack who was charged with aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law following a one-car crash on Dec. 3 on the Taconic State Parkway. Investigating officers found Chiatti to be impaired by drugs while her 5-year-old daughter was a passenger in the car. She was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled dangerous substance which was identified as Alprazolam.

Jared Sanchez, 20, of East Fishkill was charged on Dec. 4 with second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, and driving while ability impaired by drugs. Sanchez was stopped by officers on Route 82 in Stormville for an equipment violation when he was found to have a counterfeit Rhode Island driver's license and to be in possession of marijuana.
