Police are searching for answers and asking for the public’s assistance after a man was shot at the Newburgh waterfront.

A gorgeous Saturday night at the Newburgh waterfront, ended in gunshots. On Sunday at around 2AM, City of Newburgh Police responded to a report of a shooting near 50 Front Street, the former Blue Martini, in Newburgh.

The victim, a 34-year-old man from Newburgh, was found by police with a single gunshot wound to his back. The unnamed victim was taken to St. Lukes Hospital with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

City of Newburgh Detectives are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 845-561-3131. Authorities say they have no other information into the shooting at this time.

In late June, a 35-year-old New Windsor man was stabbed outside the same bar, 50 Front Street.

In late August, a New Windsor teenager was fatally shot outside a popular high school hangout in Newburgh, just days before he was about to start college.

Following the teenager’s death, local officials and the mother of the victim called for federal funding for the City of Newburgh to receive new gunshot detection technology.
