Royel Otis Took Over Newburgh Brewing Company for WRRV Sessions in February

WRRV Sessions, our free live concert at Newburgh Brewing Company, is our favorite day of the month. In February, Royel Otis flew all the way from Australia to not only visit New York for the first time, but to play their first show in the Hudson Valley.

Royel Otis (the band name is made up of the two first names of the band's frontmen, Royel and Otis) is releasing their debut album on February 16th, and while this was their first experience playing shows in the United States, they were welcomed with open arms for a show that was the first of its kind.

For the first time in the history of WRRV Sessions, the show was held on a Friday night. The energy was electric and not a single person was worried about getting home early to get ready for work or school the next day.

The beer was flowing (Royel Otis' favorite was the Cream Ale) and the kitchen was humming (may we suggest the fish tacos and the massive pretzels with jalapeño cheese sauce) before the band sat down at the WRRV broadcast table (below) to talk before they took the stage.

From dealing with long plane rides (Fortnite apparently helps with the 20 hour trip from New York to Australia) to how the bandmates met (at a bar... talk about a meet-cute), Royel Otis covered a lot of bases before it was time to strap on their guitars in front of the packed house at Newburgh Brewing Company.
