On Saturday December 17th men and women from the Hudson Valley and beyond will converge on Poughkeepsie dressed as Santa Claus for the seventh annual Santacon.

According to the Facebook invite page, Santacon is a non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political, nonsensical Santa Claus convention that happens yearly for absolutely no reason. As far as misconceptions that Santacon is simply a large bar crawl, organizers beg to differ:

Santacon is not a bar crawl, pub crawl or bar hop. Every time you call it that, a sugarplum fairy dies.

All participating Santas are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.

But what can I do to prepare for Santacon? First things first, you're going to need a santa suit. Whether made or purchased is up to you. If you're not feeling the Santa vibe, you can always dress as Rudolf or an elf. If you haven't done so already, head over and 'like' the official Santacon Facebook page for updates.
