Services are scheduled for the 30-year Hudson Valley police officer who died in the line of duty. All are welcome to come pay their respects.

Sgt. Kerry Winters died Thursday during an Ulster County Sheriff’s Office In-Water Rescue Team dive training operation in the Ashokan Reservoir.

A wake service for friends and family only is scheduled for Tuesday in Saugerties.

Local residents, emergency responders and friends may attend his wake on Wednesday. The wake goes from 2PM until 6PM, at the Lazy Swan Village on Old Kings Highway in Saugerties.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M. Thursday at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Glasco. Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery.

According to Winters' obituary, which was shared on the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Winters graduated from Saugerties High School in 1983. He was a highly decorated high school wrestler and football player.

He’s survived by his wife, Mitchy, and two sons, Kerry and Kyle.
