St Patrick’s DUI Crackdown

Think that you are going out on St Patrick's Day or over the following weekend and aiming to have a good time? Well, re-think some of the plan and make sure it includes a designated driver.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Town of Carmel Police Department have teamed up for a STOP-DWI Action for St. Patrick’s Day March 17-20, 2016. The increased patrols are with the hope of deterring individuals from consuming alcohol and then getting behind the wheel. Expect law enforcement to have increased patrols and check points throughout the entire Hudson Valley over the March 17-20 St Patrick's Day weekend.

According to the press release, research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent.
