The Grinch picked the wrong day to try to steal Christmas. He ended up in cuffs in front of hundreds of people.

You might have wondered why there were over 50 uniformed police officers at Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall this past weekend. A large police presence in a busy place like a shopping mall will always turn heads. Most people might not assume that it is due to a positive reason.

Sunday was the 6th Annual Shop with a Cop event. WRRV teamed up with local law enforcement. The departments involved included the Town of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County Sherriff, New Windsor, Hyde Park, Wappingers Falls, City of Poughkeepsie, City of Peekskill and State Police.

Sherwood Tile, Mahoney's Irish Pub & Steakhouse, Kevin McCurdy's Holiday Express and The Giving Tree Cafe also made generous donations to help make the holiday a little brighter for just over 60 kids.

The Grinch Arrested at Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall

It was a magical experience at the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall when members of local law enforcement agencies surprised kids with significant gift cards to use at any store at the mall. After the kids opened up their envelopes and saw the gift cards they were immediately hit with another surprise. The Grinch from Adams Fairacre Farms got wind of the Christmas cheer and tried to disrupt the event.
