It's hard to take a song and make it your own. It's especially hard when the song is iconic and so culturally significant that it's ingrained in people's minds in one very specific way; to put your own spin on it can result in disastrous results.

So the fact that this orchestral version of Nirvana's seminal breakthrough hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit" isn't a complete catastrophe is an accomplishment in and of itself. The fact that it's so interesting and is able to capture the haunting quality of the song (especially the pre-chorus) is actually pretty remarkable.

To me, it sounds like what would happen if Tim Burton had Danny Elfman do a version of the song for one of his movies. But hey, maybe to you it's completely sacrilege. Either way, it's undeniably interesting and worth a few moments of your time. Go ahead and check it out below.
