It's pretty crazy to see what you DON'T get for spending nearly $1 million in Upstate New York.

I have been house hunting in the Hudson Valley region for years now. It has been an exhausting process and we haven't had much luck. We started looking early during the pandemic when prices and interest rates were great but the options were pretty slim.

Fast-forward three years and there are now a ton of options but the interest rate has risen and some of the prices of these listings are extremely high. My frustrated feeling is shared with many others in the area who are shopping for houses in the area.

Though my search has slowed down I do still get local listings emailed to me. One was sent to me the other day and my jaw dropped by what I saw in the picture. I will admit this house and property looks stunning. Though it is wildly out of my price range I still decided to look through the listing. The 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom home has a lot to offer. The inside is immaculate and the privacy and views outside are huge perks.

I couldn't help but notice one thing about this listing.

Did you notice that there are wall-mounted air conditioning units?

What?

I don't want to sound like a snob but could you imagine buying a house for almost $800,000 and not having central air conditioning? This might seem crazy but this is actually the average price for homes for sale currently in this part of Ulster County.

20 Places in New York Even Locals Refuse to Visit

Someone said that Number 1 on the list is "filled with every STD and drug you can imagine," while Number 15 is the "most depressing place [they've] ever been."
