Arrest Follows Stolen Bike Investigation in Poughkeepsie

Reports of three stolen bicycles led to a Poughkeepsie man's arrest.

On Thursday, Town of Poughkeepsie police received a complaint from a man who said three people were riding his three stolen bicycles on Main Street near Raymond Avenue.

The caller told police the bikes were stolen from him in the City of Poughkeepsie, but previously didn't report the bikes stolen.

Responding officers found a woman and man on two of the stolen bicycles. The third person was gone when police arrived.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the man on one of the bikes, 27-year-old Marlin A. Baker of Poughkeepsie, was violating an order of protection to stay away from the woman on the other bike, police say.

Baker was charged with criminal contempt, a felony. He was remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

The original caller declined to press charges regarding the bicycles, police say.
