3 schools from all over the Hudson Valley were named 2016 National Blue Ribbon Schools.

The U. S. Department of Education recognized 329 schools this year as National Blue Ribbon Schools. The honor was based on the schools overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

Haldane High School, Nanuet High School and Blind Brook High School all received a National Blue Ribbon as an Exemplary High Performing.

“Haldane students learn in a progressive culture of collaboration and innovation,” the National Blue Ribbon wrote on Haldane’s award website. “To create this learning environment, Haldane emphasizes experiential, authentic opportunities that promote deeper learning through applied methodologies.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools award confirms the hard work of students, educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content.

Now in it’s 34th year, the blue ribbon flag featured at winning schools shows that the school hosts top-notch teaching and learning.

All the award winning schools will be officially recognized at an awards ceremony at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA on Nov. 7 and 8.
