50 Impaired Drivers Arrested in 72 Hours in the Hudson Valley, Police Say

It was a busy mid-December weekend for New York State Police patrolling the Hudson Valley, as 50 arrests were made by Troop K and Troop F officers for various driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated charges, authorities announced.

From Friday, Dec. 13 to Monday, Dec. 16, Troopers removed more than two dozen allegedly intoxicated drivers from the roadways, including two that had prior charges of a similar nature, and responded to a two-car crash with injuries.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, police arrested Kevin Schutz, 33, of Pawling for DWAI Drugs with a prior conviction within ten years, a felony. Schutz was traveling on Route 84 in Fishkill when he was involved in a two-car crash with injuries, police said, who claimed the driver was under the influence of drugs.

On the same day, police arrested Shawn Weaver, 44, of Chatham for driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction within ten years, police said. Weaver was traveling on Route 203 in Chatham when he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and subsequently charged.

Another arrest was made on Sunday, Dec. 15, when police stopped Kevin Corcoran, 51, of North Salem for driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within ten years, police said. Corcoran was driving on Route 100 in Somers when he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation.
