A 911 call in Columbia County led the arrest of a 27-year-old man who police say was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

New York State Police from Kinderhook were dispatched by Columbia County 911 to the Cumberland Farms in the Village of Valatie to investigate the report of a possible intoxicated driver. Before arriving on the scene, a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description was located on State Route 9.

The car, driven by 27-year-old Daniel Reutzel, of Hudson, was soon pulled over after officers allege they observed Reutzel fail to stop at a stop sign. An investigation revealed that Reutzel was impaired by drugs at the time of the stop.

A State Police Drug Recognition Expert was used to evaluate Reutzel. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.

Reutzel was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Kinderhook Court on February 16, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
